Vintage Posters – A Great Collection

In the contemporary age, vintage posters are available with good grace. If you ever visit any such art functions you shall come across at least one vintage poster and that will enthrall your imagination at best. Now do you know when did the first vintage poster or the original poster surface in the international scenario? It happened only in Paris in 1869. From the very beginning it had gained an extra advantage, owing to the large appreciation by the audience.

But is must be said, that even the saga of these original posters, faced a lull for a considerable period. The chief reason behind this temporary debacle had been the rise of several other disciplines that caught the attention of the general audience. But this trend also change and the renewed interest of people in antique posters, as well as the vintage prints brought back the lost glory. For instance, there was the auction of an antique poster dating back to the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. What can be the prime reason behind the growth of a great interest over this vintage print?

The poster is indeed rare, since it happens to be one of the only 500 of the 10,000 printed that is in French. In this regard, it would not be wrong to mention that the Archive of the erstwhile Soviet Union, situated now in Russia, has a good number of old posters, depicting the stormy days of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and the subsequent period. Be it the antique print of Lenin or Trotsky, Stalin, or even the old prints of that very period, they are still venerated in different parts of the globe. In all political upheaval these posters did play a great role, in mobilizing the masses and also to emancipate the necessary information. For instance, a popular poster in the World War II was, 'War Needs You!'. These antique prints still inspire the posterity at the time of needs. Again, in the recent days a vintage poster was shown to the international audience depicting a French woman in the war performing various tasks. In a perfect style the poster does celebrate the immense contribution of the French women in the labor force. It is through these vintage posters we are reminded that in the Second World War French women made up forty percent of the workforce.

Vintage Posters – A Great Collection

Some days back, in a newspaper it came out that an old poster of Sir Winston Churchill autographed by him was auctioned at an exorbitant price! This is a fine specimen of the interest of people to buy vintage prints. Well, it also happens that the entire function ends in a brawl owing to the presence of a good number of people who wants to add the very poster to the collectible posters of his own. As far my experience goes, my elder brother was having an interest to add a relic to his recently completed well furnished flat. For that I had to visit the nearest auction house. On one Sunday I found the presence of an old poster on Albert Einstein, signed by himself, which was put to the auction. But to utter dismay I became the best bidder and gifted to my bother, who was an ex-student of Physics. Frankly speaking, I wanted to win this vintage poster and present it to my brother, who being a student of the subject venerates Einstein a lot!
